What to do if your shoes are always damp and soggy?

I wonder if any of you have the same trouble—after wearing shoes for a whole day, the insides are always moist. Not only are they uncomfortable to wear, but they will also develop an unpleasant odor over time. This situation is even more frequent especially during the plum rain season in southern China. I used to suffer a lot from this and tried various methods to dehumidify my shoes.

At first, I would leave my shoes in a well-ventilated place to air dry, but the effect was not ideal. Especially for shoes that are not breathable, they still felt damp and clammy. Later, I heard that newspaper could be used for dehumidification, so I crumpled newspaper into balls and stuffed them into the shoes. It did absorb some moisture, but the shoes were still not dry enough.

Then I found an extremely effective method—using desiccants! There are many types of desiccants on the market specially designed for shoe dehumidification. Just put them into your shoes, and they will make the shoes completely dry overnight. There is also a great homemade desiccant method: wrap some lime powder in gauze and put it into the shoes, which also has an excellent dehumidification effect.
